FAQ

If you don't find your answer here, give me a call.  Ill be happy to answer you questions.

  • How often should I have my RV serviced?
That is a tricky question but a good one. The RV manufactures recommend most systems and appliances to be serviced and inspected annually like the ACs, fridge, LP gas, and the furnace. If you wait until you see performance issues, it could turn into repairs vice just service. We have many options with bundling services to save you money.
  • Can I save money by scheduling more than one service at a time.?
Yes you can, just like auto insurance I bundle. You save me transportation and scheduling time, I pass that on to you. Call to see how much.
  • Can you do an inspection at a dealership?
Yes! Most dealers are very accommodating in having an independent inspection. Please ask the dealer what their policy is regarding independent inspections. Proof of insurance can be provided upon request.
  • How do I know if I need my AC unit serviced?
The manufacturer recommends once a year, usually in the spring for AC unit and every 6 month for a heat pump. If it just doesn't seem as cool as it used to, you cant see if the coils need cleaned unless you get on the roof and look. We can schedule a service and I will clean the coils & filters, do an efficiency check on it, verify amp draw and voltage and verify air flow from the ducts. All to get it back to peak coolness.
  • What is a Life Health Safety Inspection?
Its designed to test the systems and appliances that if fail could seriously hurt or kill anyone in the RV. It test LP gas lines & appliances for leaks, test the electrical system for shorts to ground, replace smoke detector batteries , test CO detector, check fire extinguishers, test emergency break-a-way brake, test GFCI receptacles and breakers, test 7-way signals and lights.
  • Can I attend the Inspection?
We encourage the you to attend the inspection. You can make a list of your concern… questions..… so we can talk about them.
  • How do you accept payment for inspections?
Once your inspection is scheduled, we will send you an estimate that details the services you have requested and our standard contract. You can review and sign these electronically. After the contract is accepted we will send you an invoice for payment. The invoice will have a link that will allow you to pay online. We utilize Square for processing all payments. We do not accept checks for inspections (we do for services & repairs). If you desire to pay cash, we can make arrangements with you when scheduling.
  • Why are RV Inspections more than a home inspection?
An RV has 2 water systems, 3 electrical systems, possibly a engine, generator, and other items that do not exist in a traditional home. We customize the inspection to your needs and the prices shown are references. However look at the inspection points and the time it takes for the different classes of inspections. The typical RV inspection is much more detailed and time consuming than a home inspection… some times even up to a eight hours or more!
  • How long after the inspection before I get the report?
We strive to get your written report via downloadable pdf to you within 24 hours. If your unit is motorized and you have opted for fluid analysis, that can add up to 7 days in order for the lab to complete but is highly recommended.
  • I'm looking at a brand new RV, do I need and inspection?
If you posts or watch you-tube, you will find that many individuals wish they had purchased a professional inspection prior to purchase. The standards that exist in the home building industry do not exist for RV’s and your home does not travel a thousand miles down bumpy roads prior to purchase. Its peace of mind you will get.
  • What do I need for the inspection?
The RV will need to be available for the duration of the inspection without others working on it or it being shown. It will need to be set up so that everything inside and out can be fully evaluated. It will need full utility hookups including water, sewer, and electric. This is very important because if I cant operate each system we wont know its true status.
  • I have a friend that has had a RV for years. Is it a good idea to ask his opinion?
The best way I can answer this is the following. Most of us have owned one or more traditional homes. That said, we would not think of replacing a professional inspection on a home purchase with even our best, most knowledgeable friend. Even those that have owned for many years are not trained what to look for and in the knowledge needed to correctly test all the different systems on a modern day RV.
  • I’m thinking of buying from a private seller but they don’t have hookups for the inspection.
Every Inch RV Inspection Services recommends that the RV be taken to a RV Park for the inspection. This works out well because most have good parking areas and full hookups. The down side to this is the cost for two nights stay and limited availability during the winter months. It can be done without full hookups but that will limit the ability to fully inspect the RV.
  • I'm purchasing from a dealer. Can I get my RV inspected?
Most dealers want you to have the best experience with your RV so they can get repeat business and you publish good reviews. Many times their service personnel, although trained in repairing RVs, do not spend the time we do looking at every aspect of the RV. Tell your dealer you want to purchase your own third party inspection prior to buying the RV.
  • How long does it take to do an inspection?
The length of the inspection depends on a number of factors. The Platinum Inspection can take between 6 and 12 hours. The length of time to do the inspection varies based on the type of RV, amount of installed equipment and the number of issues identified. We will not rush our inspections. We want to provide the best inspection possible and will take whatever time is necessary to complete the job.
